I ran 5 miles Monday in 37:04. I ran most of it at 7.7 mph but the last .25 miles of each mile I increased it to 8.6 for 200 meters then to 9.0 mph for another 200 meters. At mile 3.5 I did increased my cruising pace to 7.8 mph and increased it in my last mile as usual.
Though today was technically an easy day, I did push it just a little for each of those quarter miles. My body needs rest (just sort of dawned on me that I have been training hard with no real rest since December 26) but I also had to see after a great run on Saturday what I had left in me.
