7/12/11 (Tuesday) Run

Today I ran 7 miles in 49:08.  I did my usual warm-up, but just at 7.5 mph.  Then I ran 7X1000 meter intervals with a one minute recovery between intervals.  I did the first three intervals at 9.0 mph, then the next three at 9.1 mph, then the last one at 9.3 mph, then finished the entire run with running the last 100 meters at 10.5 mph.

An interesting thing happened this morning.  I went in to check and calculate which week this month I am supposed to begin my 12 week marathon training.  Surprise!  It is a 16 week training plan (I thought 12 weeks was rather short) and I was supposed to have began three weeks ago.  So I decided I would just dive in where I was supposed to be on the schedule.  Luckily my conditioning is pretty good so I just have to stretch a little to get acclimated to this schedule.  That is the reason for the tough 7X1000 meter intervals today.
